Summer Sports Camps
Greetings School Parents and Athletes:
Summer vacation is already three weeks old and we're planning the summer camps for the volleyball, soccer, and cross country teams. Listed below is a belief summary about these camps. Our season begins one week earlier than last year and we're really looking forward to a great year.
A reminder to all students in grades 4 - 12, there is an activity fee of $30.00 this year that is due before August 14. You will receive free admissions to 70 home games and 10% off of all Horizon sports gear. You also will be able to attend all after glow events after games. This will save you over $100.00. Please make all checks out to Horizon Christian School Athletics. This activity fee will serve you well along with helping making our athletic program successful. Horizon Athletic Department operates on its own budget. No tuition money is used. The Athletic Department seeks donations from many organizations and other donors. If you have any questions, please contact my office.
Listed below are the camps were offering athletes playing sports this fall. The coaching staff does encourage you to participate in these camps. This year's athletic fee is $60.00. This fee is due at your first official practice. You can also make payment at camp. If you wish to pay these two fees as well as the camp fee you may. Activity cards will be given out on Monday, August 21 at homeroom. Please fill out Athletic form in the attachments and return it with fees prior to camp date. Enjoy the rest of your summer. Varsity Soccer Camp:
June 26-30 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
This camp is open to all incoming male 7-11 graders. Camp will be teaching basic skill and preparing you for fall season. Elementary/Jr. High Volleyball:
July 10-14 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
This camp is open to all incoming female 4-8 graders. Camp will teach basic fundamentals as well as Christian character building skills. Any girl who played last season should attend this camp. Coach Meyers and Coach Steely will be running this camp. If you have questions call school office.

Junior Varsity/Varsity Volleyball Camp:
July 17-21 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
This camp is open for any girls in grades 9-12 who want to play volleyball this season. Fundamentals will be taught as well as team unity. Our varsity team went to the Final Four last year. Elementary/Junior High Cross Country:
July 17-21 9:00 am - 11:00am Coed camp
This camp is open to all incoming 2nd through seventh graders. Camp will teach basic running skills to get you ready for the cross country season. You will be running everyday rain or shine. Christian character building skills will be taught as well. Boys wanting to play basketball this year should attend this camp to help them get in shape? High School Cross Country Camp:
July 17-21 9:00 am - 11:00 am Coed camp
This camp is open to all incoming students in grades eight through seniors. Camp meets one time a day and you will run 6-8 miles a day. This camp will get you ready for the up-coming season as well as work on team building projects. Any athletes that will play winter sports are encouged to participate in this camp. Open Gym Basketball:
August 7-11 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm Coed camp
This camp is open to all incoming students in grades 6 through 9. Basic dribbling skills along with shooting drills will be addressed. You will scrimmage with other players. You will learn about the rules and how to officiate the game of basketball. Camp will be overseen by Coach Meyers. If you have any questions call school office at 317.823.4538

Player Physical:
August 1 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Everyone playing a sport at Horizon must have physical. This year we will offer physicals once again. On Tuesday, August 1, 2006 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm we will have a doctor available to administer physicals. All athletes who are not playing fall sports should come in and get your physical on this date, it will save you money. (download the Athletic Information Form)
Cost $25.00
Camps will include a 15-20 minute devotional at each session. God is the main focus in our sports program. Campers are required to bring their Bibles each day. We're very pleased to announce that Mark Canada will be overseeing our fall sports program as the team chaplain.
